Jason Finucan is a professional business speaker, consultant and expert on the stigma surrounding mental illness. He developed his innovative, 3-tier stigmaZERO Workplace Program in order to help clients reduce the cost of workplace mental illness and improve productivity – all while working towards a future without stigma. Jason founded stigmaZERO to open people’s minds up to the reality of stigma. Having experienced both a major physical and mental illness, he has first-hand experience of how negative – and truly unnecessary – stigma could be. Jason’s hope is to empower employers to overcome this challenge, which is the key to better managing mental illness and ultimately reducing the associated lost productivity.

Joe has been meditating for over 15 years, which provides the foundation for his private practice and mindfulness training with individuals and groups. He has extensive experience teaching mindfulness in professional settings, including in the corporate, educational, and health sectors.

Wayne Burke is a Montreal-based entrepreneur, Co-Founder & President of DNE Resources, an award-winning energy-consulting firm focused on helping customers take charge of their energy.

In his mid-twenties, Wayne abandoned an ultra-successful sales career to take a chance on a start-up. Having slept on the floor of his first sales office during the peak of the economic recession he was well prepared for the rigors of entrepreneurship. With the support of his Co-Founder Steve Shoiry, Wayne was able to complete degrees in Political Science at Concordia and Law at McGill while building DNE and subsequent related entities. Armed with these tools and mounds of grit and determination in tow, Wayne and Steve’s company, DNE Resources, went on to establish offices across North America and Europe, service more than 350,000 clients, and win awards for its work with homeowners, schools, non-profits, and beyond. Along the way, Wayne and Steve have also Co-Founded Link Energy and Pricefolio.com, two up-and-coming players in the energy and online comparison-shopping for home services sectors respectively. In 2014, Wayne and his Steve were recipients of the EY Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for Quebec and DNE also won the Canada’s Greatest Workplace award in each of the three years it applied.

Aside from the dedication to social and environmental change inherent in his businesses, Wayne maintains a deep connection to various charitable causes which he supports regularly, from delivering food-baskets to lower-income Montreal communities to young entrepreneurship competitions for students across Canada. Valérie Martin

Valérie Martin is the Vice-President of Communications and Culture at the ALDO Group. She joined the ALDO Group over 22 years ago working in stores in her hometown of Quebec City. She made the move to the Head Office in 2001 when she came to Montreal for university. In these last two decades, she has become an expert in communications, strategy creation, company’s culture and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Valérie received her BA from Université du Québec à Montréal in Fashion Marketing in 2003. As a natural storyteller, that same year she decided to specialize in communications, earning a certificate in both Public Relations from Université de Montréal and Journalism from Université du Québec à Montréal.

In her current role, Valérie is responsible for leading Global Communications, Corporate PR/Public Affairs, Sustainability, Community Engagement, Learning & Development, Events & Recognition, and Corporate Branding. A strong guardian of the ALDO Group’s company culture, Valérie has been a key player in creating and nurturing a unique experience and environment that resonates with associates today. Her accomplishments include introducing innovative perks such as an on-site community garden to a cutting-edge wellness program. She also built a global volunteering program, offering associates time-off to volunteer every year for a cause they are passionate about. This initiative increased the ALDO Group’s volunteering participation by 58% in only one year.

Sonia Basili
Head of People & Culture

As the Head of People & Culture at Stradigi AI, Sonia Basili brings years of experience working closely with individuals and teams and promoting wellness in the work environment. Her expertise stems from her onboarding methodology and her ability to guide people throughout their professional journey.

As a graduate of McGill University and the University of Ottawa holding a Masters in Psychology, Sonia began her career focusing on both career & mental health. She later moved to Hong Kong and used her knowledge as a psychotherapist to offer counselling in centers and various international schools. While there, she also developed her skills working with executive teams in start-ups to promote wellness.

Back in Montreal, she transitioned into more formal HR roles working for Colt Resources and VIA. These positions allowed her to work with international teams in Portugal and the United States. Her expertise is rooted in technical recruitment and career development for employees.

Now the Head of People and Culture at Stradigi AI, a leading AI solutions provider, she works to facilitate professional development by implementing learning opportunities, helping employees develop and obtain new skills and works to promote Stradigi AI’s values across the company. The fast-growing nature of the tech industry has given her the opportunity to implement a new methodology related to onboarding in order to better integrate new employees.

Sonia is a member of L’Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés (CRHA), an active board member of the at the Montreal Oral School for the Deaf and program advisory group member of the Data Science program at McGill University.

Maya Toussaint

Maya is easy to spot and hear in a crowd with her big hair and hearty laugh. She has over 8 years of recruitment and HR experience in both Montreal and Toronto and more recently working with startups on employee experience and culture management. Her work with global organizations while working for LinkedIn in Toronto for five years, brings insight in to how companies, from the startup to the international giant, handle growth and employee engagement. Maya brings humour and real world context to teams looking to collaborate and grow, leveraging best practices and customer success management to get ‘er done.

Maya is currently doing consulting work with organizations and individuals around LinkedIn optimization, employee engagement and the importance of a resilient and compassionate culture in the workplace. In her spare time she is actively pursuing her passion of wine and taking her third certification to be a sommelier while leading down to earth, guided wine tastings for small groups.
